Two bills that have been brought forward by State Senator Andre Jacque have taken their next steps toward their goal of becoming law.
The bipartisan measure known as the Clean Water Bill, which aims to expand and eliminate backlogs in the grant program that helps cover the costs of repairing or replacing failing private wells for lower-income households passed the Senate recently.
Meanwhile, the Paddlewheel Bill that Jacque co-sponsored with Representative Dave Murphy of Greenville passed the assembly, and now heads for Governor Evers’ desk.
That bill aims to allow the use of paddlewheels raffles by non-profit organizations already allowed charitable gaming licenses.
A similar bill made its way through the legislature last year, only to be vetoed by Governor Evers.
