Sheboygan native Roy Pirrung turned his back on smoking and other unhealthy habits in his early 30s and eventually began an impressive running regimen.
Now at the age of 72, Pirrung resides in Plymouth and has earned his 96th National Championship Title last week when he captured the “Jackpot 100 mile” in Las Vegas, his 1st race of 2021.
Roy tells Seehafer News in an email that he won the 70-to-74 age group in an official time of 23-hours and 53.17 minutes. That is the leading time so far this year in his age category and a World’s Best Performance.
Pirrung also told us that only five Americans in the 70-to-74 group have ever gone under 24-hours for 100-miles.
In his biography, Roy is described as an ultramarathoner, middle and long-distance runner.
