A Kaukauna home caught fire yesterday afternoon (April 29th) after embers from a nearby fire pit landed on the structure.
The Kaukauna Fire Department received the call reporting the fire in the 500 block of East 18th Street at around 4:30 PM.
By the time crews arrived, a neighbor had already extinguished the small fire with a garden hose, but crews used thermal imaging to ensure it was completely extinguished.
No injuries were reported, and the damage to the home was minimal thanks to the quick actions of the neighbor.
This is also a good reminder of why it is important to have a hose available if you are having a fire and to always have someone watching over the fire, even if it appears to be dying down.
