A bill signed into law by Governor Tony Evers today (Tuesday) will allow worker’s compensation benefits for law enforcement officers and firefighters diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. Evers said, “we know the toll post-traumatic stress can take on our first responders might otherwise go unseen, but today we’re going to help make sure it doesn’t go unheard.”
The governor signed the legislation at Madison Fire Station 14. The law limits the liability for treatment and claims to no more than 32 weeks after the injury is first reported.
