A couple of bills penned by State Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere which aimed to protect civil liberties were vetoed by Governor Tony Evers recently.
One of those bills aimed to ensure the Department of Health Services could not require citizens to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, or show proof of such a vaccination, while the other looked to protect churches from being closed during a health emergency, much as they were during the COVID pandemic.
Senator Jacque questioned how committed the Governor actually is to safeguarding these liberties, saying in a news release, “These two initiatives help prevent government officials from using Covid-19 as an excuse to grab power at the expense of our liberties.”
