Manitowoc police yesterday arrested a student at Lincoln High School for having a handgun in his possession after a fight.
MPSD Superintendent Mark Holzman tells Seehafer News that students at Lincoln High School went onto a hold situation about 12:45 PM due to an incident involving 3-students near the campus. Holzman explained the student was detained and arrested by police officers.
Those involved in the incident, he says, were not in the school building Thursday.
The superintendent says there is an additional police presence at the high school today.
He also voiced his appreciation for his staff, and their ability to communicate the situation. He stated, “Our liaison officer responded with our administrative team and we were able to work through the situation with no injuries.”
He also said that “We have a statement that we asked all of our staff members to read during first hour. We did send a message out to all of our families last evening. We want to reiterate to the students that we are aware of the situation and that if they see something say something. We wanted to provide a place to answer any questions they have regarding that incident or student safety.
Thursday’s incident remains under investigation by the Manitowoc police department.
