Manitowoc Lincoln Seniors Elsie Steimle and Kendra Peterson have lost their quarterfinal match at the WIAA Fall Alternate State Girls Tennis Tournament in Lake Geneva.
Elsie and Kendra were defeated by Sophia Paape and Shelly Roth of Neenah 7-6 (7-2 in the tiebreaker) and 6-0. They still have an opportunity to as high as fifth but will have to win two matches tomorrow in the consolation bracket. Their first opponent will be sophomores Julia Tackmeier and Allison Rohrer of Green Bay Southwest.
A victory would send them to the fifth-place match against either the top overall seed Grace Wellman and Alex Madjun of Appleton West or Liz Riisgard and Annalise Zenzick of Neenah.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln Freshman Olivia Minikel, the third overall seed in the Singles Flight, is still alive and takes a 15 and 1 record into the quarterfinals late this afternoon against sophomore Molly Hower of Eau Claire Memorial.
