A local ambulance provider is looking to help fight hunger in Sheboygan County.
Orange Cross Ambulance will hold a Stuff the Ambo food drive on December 12th in Sheboygan Falls at Blattner’s Piggly Wiggly.
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with all donations set to go to the Sheboygan County Food Bank as Orange Cross crews and staff will be collection non-perishable food items to help out Sheboygan County residents facing hunger during the holiday season.
On why food matters to those in the EMS field, Orange Cross explained, “For EMS crews, food insecurity isn’t just a statistic. They see it in people’s homes. Paramedics and EMTs respond to patients with diabetes whose blood sugar has dropped dangerously low after missed meals. They also see older adults who fall because they’re weak or dehydrated, and patients whose chronic conditions get worse when they have to choose between groceries and medication.”
Those unable to make it the day of the event can drop off donations at Piggly Wiggly between November 16th and December 11th.
