The Oconomowoc man charged in a Two Rivers teen’s death has had his bail set.
26-year-old Dominic Pilgreen was given a $750,000 cash bail during a hearing in Manitowoc County Court Branch 1.
Attorney Timothy Hogan will represent Pilgreen from the Public Defender’s Office.
The 26-year-old was also ordered by Judge Mark Rohrer to have no contact with the second suspect, 15-year-old Nathan Reichard, no contact with the family of Payton Vertz, and not to possess any weapons.
Reichard also appeared in court from the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center.
Although he qualifies for public defender representation, a lawyer has not been found to represent him.
The 15-year-old will be back in court on November 9th for his initial appearance.
Pilgreen returns to court on November 5th for his preliminary hearing.
The two men are facing charges of 1st-degree intentional homicide and other charges like hiding a corpse and false imprisonment after the body of Payton Vertz was found in Seagull Marina in Two Rivers last month.
A criminal complaint alleges that after Pilgreen and Reichard got Payton intoxicated, they tried to tie him to a tree and beat him up.
Vertz was able to escape multiple times but was eventually beaten to death.
A benefit for Payton’s family will take place on Saturday, November 14th, at the J.E. Hamilton Community House.
