The father of an emaciated Outagamie County teen has been convicted.
48-year-old Walter Goodman was present in court yesterday (November 3rd) for a plea hearing as he faced three felony counts of Chronic Neglect of a Child, Consequence is Great Bodily Harm, and two felony counts of Chronic Neglect of a Child, Consequence is Emotional Damage.
A plea deal was reached in the case, as Goodman was convicted via a no-contest plea to one count each of Chronic Neglect of a Child, Consequence is Great Bodily Harm, Chronic Neglect of a Child, Consequence is Emotional Damage, and False Imprisonment, while all other charges were thrown out.
The 48-year-old was arrested last year after his then 14-year-old daughter was found inside their home weighing just 35 pounds, showing extreme signs of neglect, and was close to death.
After her rescue by authorities, a GoFundMe page was set up by her cousin to help her on her road to recovery and healing, which has raised nearly $23,000.
