Two Rivers Public Schools has approved its tax levy.
The board unanimously approved it last Monday (October 26th), with Finance Director Mary Kay Slattery explaining that the tax levy is around $8.4 million.
This means the Mill rate is increasing from $6.84 of equalized value compared to $6.64 last year.
For example, if a home is worth $200,000, that means a $40 tax increase.
Slattery says the district’s operating levy is the largest portion of taxes the district approved.
Their state aid is also down $225,000 and is only getting around $15.6 million.
The district also has about $1.22 million going to the state’s voucher program, a 12.2% increase from last year.
The district’s debt levy does have some funding that can be used to pay down any future debt.
Slattery added that Two Rivers Public Schools is one of only 50 districts that have not gone to an operating referendum to bridge gaps in their budget.
However, they are one of the districts receiving more state aid than others.
