A Manitowoc man charged after punching a corrections officer is due in court.
35-year-old Kyle J. Huybers will be inside a Manitowoc County courtroom today (October 29th) for a scheduling conference as he faces charges of Battery to Certain Individuals Involved with a Court or Legal System, Substantial Battery, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
These charges arose after Huybers was taken into custody back in April on a probation warrant for his arrest.
When officers made contact with him, he resisted and attempted to grab an officer around the head and neck area.
Later on, after being transported to the Manitowoc County Jail, the 35-year-old punched a corrections officer with a closed fist, injuring the officer and sending them to the ground.
Upon review of surveillance footage from the jail, Huybers’ Substantial Battery charge was referred to the District Attorney’s Office.
While appearing in court today, Huybers remains in custody on an unfurnished $5,000 cash bail.
