Ascend Services is highlighting the amazing thing their youth program has been able to accomplish so far this year.
The program officially began on September 14th, allowing children of differing abilities to participate in adventures, learning, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
Over the past month and a half, the children have had the opportunity to explore the zoo, parks, and nature trails, visit a pumpkin farm, take a hayride, carve pumpkins, and even make caramel apples.
The older group has been focused more on developing life skills, specifically through cooking, journaling, and coping toolboxes while exploring future careers through visits from teachers, therapists, and physical therapists.
It’s not all work and no play, as they have also made time for ice cream parties and plenty of dancing.
Ascend Services said of the Youth Program, “Behind every activity is a bigger purpose. We are creating a place where children with special needs and behavioral challenges can feel safe being themselves, build friendships, learn practical skills, and experience new things.”
