Wisconsin has joined 19 other states in suing the Dollar General Corporation.
The lawsuit alleges the company is “engaging in long-running deceptive pricing practices by routinely charging customers more at the register than the prices displayed on shelves, price tags and advertisements.”
Attorney General Josh Kaul said in a statement that the prices people see when they’re shopping should be the same as the prices they’re charged.
The complaint alleges that thousands of Dollar General stores have taken advantage of shoppers by extracting millions of dollars in unlawful overcharges.
The company also allegedly received tens of thousands of consumer complaints, but did nothing about them.
