The Sheboygan County Food Bank is looking to help those who have been kicked off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Last year, the Trump-backed One Big Beautiful Bill was signed into law, forcing nearly 5 million Americans off SNAP; however, the Sheboygan County Food Bank has said it remains committed to helping its neighbors access nutritious food when they need it.
This comes as data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services shows that approximately 37,000 fewer Wisconsinites are receiving FoodShare benefits since those changes became law, including 17,000 children who have been left to wonder where their next meal may come from.
These changes include increased work requirements, some noncitizens no longer eligible to receive SNAP benefits, and nearly $76 million in additional costs for the State of Wisconsin to administer the program.
With that in mind, any Sheboygan County resident in need of assistance is encouraged to contact the Food Bank’s FoodShare Outreach Specialist by calling 262-581-2220 or via email at jgrady@feedingamericawi.org.
