An incident on a Manitowoc Public School District bus turned out to be a false alarm.
In an email to parents, the district said that at 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Lincoln High School administration received a report from Brandt Buses that a student said they had a weapon.
Brandt Buses acted immediately by calling police, while Lincoln High School staff were also called to the bus pickup area.
After an investigation, law enforcement determined there was no weapon, and students not directly involved were able to continue their bus route.
The district said students directly involved will be held accountable for their actions.
Superintendent Lee Thennes also added that the district is grateful to the bus company for their prompt notification and to local law enforcement for their quick response.
Parents and guardians were encouraged to remind students to report safety concerns to a trusted adult immediately and to review the seriousness of making statements about weapons.
