Sheboygan’s 8th Street Bridge is back to full operation.
A scheduled repair was planned for last week on the bridge, but on Friday (October 16th), city staff reported a failure in the lifting mechanism, meaning it was unable to open for boat traffic until serviced again.
City officials, the United States Coast Guard, Sheboygan Police Department, Sheboygan Fire Department, and the Parks, Marina and Forestry Commission were all notified of the failure.
The issue was resolved yesterday (October 19th), and the bridge is now back in operation.
The City of Sheboygan extended its “gratitude to our boating community for their patience and understanding during this lapse in operations.”
