More than 1 million pounds of meat products have been recalled.
The United States Food Safety and Inspection Service and Kayem Foods Inc. of Massachusetts have announced the recall of 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to temperature abuse during storage.
The hundreds of products subject to this recall were shipped and sold at retail locations across the country, including here in Wisconsin.
These products will bear the establishment numbers EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A, and EST. M 9520.
The problem was discovered when a Kayem retail customer reported warm products upon delivery, and it was learned that a storage cooler in Massachusetts experienced temperature deviations, initiating the recall.
Anyone in possession of these products is urged to throw them away or return them to their place of purchase for a refund.
A complete list of recalled items, as well as product labels, can be found at fsis.usda.gov.
