To keep your yard clean and your body healthy, Emplify Health has some tips to avoid injuries while working in your yard.
Warm up first; do some stretches to get your blood flowing and your body ready for the work ahead.
Use the right tools, such as rakes made to fit your height, to avoid aches afterward.
Make sure when you’re lifting heavy things, you lift with your legs, not your back.
Taking breaks in between can keep your body from being overworked.
Switching hands and motions prevents one part of your body from doing all of the work.
Wear stable shoes to prevent slips and falls and gloves to keep hands from getting splinters or blisters.
Their final tip is to work with a partner, so all the work isn’t put on one person.
Without taking these precautions, injuries may occur, the most common being lower back strains, shoulder or neck injuries, knee and joint pain, and hand or wrist injuries.
Emplify Health wants to make sure everyone is safe during this fall season.
