The National Weather Service Office in Green Bay has issued a Freeze Watch for the majority of northeast, east central, and central Wisconsin, including Manitowoc County, from 1 to 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Sub-freezing temperatures in the mid-to-upper twenties are possible, which could kill crops and sensitive vegetation and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is warning of sustained 50-mile-an-hour winds starting Friday night into Saturday that could cause waves as high as 30 feet, with the potential for waterspouts to develop on Lake Michigan due to the high winds and rapidly changing temperatures.
The Coast Guard is asking everyone to stay off the water until the storms pass on Saturday.
