The twin brother of Ethan Hauschultz took the stand during the fourth day of the Timothy Hauschultz trial at the Manitowoc County Courthouse.
Assistant District Attorney Jill Vendetti started questioning now 16-year-old Anthony Hauschultz Jr. after jurors were shown a video of him being interviewed by Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Human Services Department.
During the video, he told officers that while Damian hit him, it was Timothy who ordered them to carry heavy wood logs around the yard.
In the interview room, he also alleged that he would eat plain porridge while standing up as punishment for misbehaving.
Anthony also testified in court that it was Timothy who made him carry wood around the yard, and if he or Ethan stopped, they would get more time added on.
After he was finished carrying wood, Anthony told prosecutors that he went inside to take a shower and only saw Ethan buried in the snow from his room.
Timothy’s attorneys played a video from another interview when Anthony was seven years old to try to jog his memory about Damian when he said, “he didn’t know.”
Prosecutors also played a police interview with Ethan’s sister for jurors, as they did with Anthony.
She could take the stand today, but it will depend on what the state and defense teams want to do.
Timothy is charged with neglecting a child; the consequence is death after Ethan was poked and hit over 100 times and later buried in the snow.
Prosecutors allege that Timothy ordered Damian to carry out the punishment of carrying wood, while Timothy’s attorneys say it was only Damian Hauschultz’s actions that led to Ethan’s death.
Damian is serving a 20-year prison sentence after he was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of 1st-degree reckless homicide.
