All are welcome to learn about the history of WOMT radio.
The Manitowoc County Historical Society and Seehafer Broadcasting will host Hungry for History After Hours tomorrow at PetSkull Brewing Company beginning at 6:00 p.m. for an encore presentation of WOMT’s History of Radio and the Local Legacy of WOMT.
Vice President Terry Stevenson explains that the first Hungry for History event was so well received, it had to be done again for those that missed out, or who wanted to enjoy the experience again.
“It is a 1920s speakeasy concept,” he explained. “Encouraging people to dress as if you though you are going to a 1920s speakeasy. And it will be a great way to just kind of again celebrate 100 years of live, local, radio.”
Just like in April, it’s a chance for attendees to go back in time and see WOMT radio as it was in 1926, when Francis Kadow founded the station.
Along with the presentation, there will be a jazz band along with plenty of PetSkull beer on tap.
Stevenson added that following the Hungry for History presentation, there will be another event called WOMT Story Slam.
Stevenson described. “We are going to invite and encourage attendees to come up on stage and share a story. Share a moment on how WOMT has been a part of their lives at some point throughout the past 100 years.”
Everyone who attends and says a special keyword will also get a special gift. That special keyword will be announced this week on WOMT 100.
Stevenson noted that none of it would be possible without the special partnership with the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
He called the partnership very strong, positive, and uplifting.
The Vice President added, “And it’s been fun to just kind of reminisce on stories and see old photos and come together and figure out a way on how to really keep the legacy alive for both the historical society and WOMT.”
Stevenson also encourages everyone to listen to tomorrow’s edition of The Taproom Live from PetSkull Brewing.
It begins at 11:30 a.m. and gives the opportunity for attendees to sample their taproom beer, called the Graham Reaper.
