A Madison family and their dog are looking for a new place to live after a house fire on Madison’s southwest side.
Crews responded around 7:43 p.m. Monday for reports of smoke and flames in the home’s bathroom.
Firefighters saw an orange glow coming from the exhaust fan in the bathroom, and found the flames had spread to the attic.
An investigation found that heat from the exhaust fan motor and light bulb ignited dust inside the fan, leading to the fire.
MFD estimates the damage to the home is around $80,000.
