Day three of the Timothy Hauschultz trial in connection to the 2018 death of his great-nephew Ethan has concluded.
Ahead of a noon lunch break, Manitowoc County District Attorney Jaclyn LaBre got witness testimony from Timothy’s son, Damian.
After a recess, it was time for the defense to cross-examine Damian, as he is already serving a 20-year prison sentence for his role in the 2018 death of his cousin.
During cross-examination, Damian explained that he was ordered by Timothy to supervise Ethan and his brother Anthony while the three carried wood.
He also noted that Timothy didn’t instruct him to hurt the two boys but his displeasure with having them living in the home had reached its limits and he decided to not control his emotions the day Ethan died.
However, in follow-up questioning from the prosecution, Damian did admit that Timothy gave Ethan a heavier log to carry as punishment because he acted “all powerful,” and didn’t like to work. Just after 2:00 p.m.
Damian’s testimony was completed, and proceedings were halted for a short break.
Multiple other witnesses gave their testimony as well, including members of law enforcement and a member of the State Crime Lab who conducted DNA testing on pieces of evidence in the case.
Just before proceedings ended for the day, Laura Zimbler was called to the stand to testify as she worked as an after-hours crisis worker with the Manitowoc Human Services Department at the time of Ethan’s death and was the one to conduct interviews with Anthony, Celine, Amya, and Damian Hauschultz that evening.
But before she could get any further, proceedings were called for the day.
Day four of the trial will continue tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
