A Fond du Lac man has been given a cash bail on fourteen charges he faces, including two counts of attempted homicide.
Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney says 42-year-old Justin Hamilton received a $1.5 million cash bail during a hearing yesterday.
Fond du Lac Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Emma Street for a vehicle with a slashed tire.
It was learned that Hamilton’s wife was sleeping with the homeowner, but both had left the property before police arrived.
Officers went to a nearby church and found Hamilton and his wife sitting there.
The woman then told police she was threatened with a knife to purchase a gun the 42-year-old had in his pocket and was stabbed in the stomach.
Hamilton was placed under arrest, after which officers removed the handgun and a knife from his pockets.
Fond du Lac Police would collect evidence that showed the victim was stabbed before she explained that Hamilton broke her cellphone after he found out about the affair.
She also claimed she was hit with a bat multiple times before Hamilton stabbed her while she was trying to fall asleep, saying he was going to kill her.
DA Toney said the victim’s courage in alerting law enforcement likely saved lives, and they are “grateful for the rapid law enforcement response to intervene and protect our community.”
Hamilton will return to court on November 5th for a preliminary hearing.
