A Green Bay family is mourning the loss of three pets in a house fire.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to the 300 block of Windward Road at 4:00 Friday evening on a report of smoke coming from a home.
The fire was located in the kitchen, along with a hole in the floor and extensive damage to the cabinets.
The flames were quickly extinguished, but not before three family pets were killed. There were no other injuries reported.
The fire caused an estimated $195,000 in damage, and while the cause was not explicitly stated, Green Bay Metro Fire is reminding residents to “keep all combustible materials away from cooking appliances and to keep stovetops clear when not in use.”
