The Wisconsin DNR is looking for public input on its initial draft of a new Turkey Management Plan.
The DNR will hold open houses across Wisconsin, including one in Appleton next Wednesday (October 14th) beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the DNR/USDA Appleton Office on Brewster Street.
The public will learn about the direction of turkey management and the changes made since the last public input period.
In its draft, the DNR says its direction for managing turkeys includes “making informed management decisions as ecological conditions, scientific understanding and public expectations evolve. The plan emphasizes the use of measurable information, periodic evaluation, and adaptive implementation to ensure that management remains effective and relevant over time.”
For those who can’t attend an in-person meeting, the DNR encourages residents to use the online comment tool so they can use the input while preparing the final plan.
