As city leaders continue to formulate the 2027 budget, the public is invited to see where their tax dollars are going.
The event is called “Touch the Budget,” and it will be held in the Manitowoc City Hall parking lot on Monday, November 2nd.
Based on the ever-popular “Touch the Truck” events, the City is inviting residents to stop out and get up close with the vehicles and equipment their tax dollars support.
This includes ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, snow plows, buses, and more. Plus, City Hall will be open for walk-throughs of different departments, including the Mayor’s Office.
Mayor Justin Nickels noted that the goal of the event is to “Make our city budget more accessible and engaging — especially for residents who don’t typically attend budget meetings. Learn where your tax dollars go: how much we spend on public safety, street maintenance, salt, tree stump removal, and so much more.”
The event will run from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and will immediately be followed by the Common Council meeting, where Mayor Nickels will present the 2027 budget.
