The Two Rivers Police Department is celebrating one of its officers for his work arresting two people on OWI charges.
The department explains that the officer overheard radio traffic of Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies trying to stop two motorcycles that were traveling on southbound Highway 147 north of Two Rivers.
The deputy said he would not pursue the vehicles, but they were traveling over 30 miles over the speed limit.
The Two Rivers police officer got into position to intercept the motorcycles and got them to pull over in the 2800 block of Forest Avenue.
While speaking to both operators, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol and requested for a second unit to come to the scene.
After failing field sobriety tests, one motorcycle rider was arrested for his 1st OWI, while the second was arrested for a 2nd OWI.
The Two Rivers Police Department credits both officers with sound decision-making, teamwork, initiative, and productivity, while maintaining a high standard of work.
