Waukesha County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a wrong-way crash that left a 23-year-old woman dead and sent two others to the hospital.
Authorities say the woman was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 16 Sunday night when her vehicle struck two oncoming cars head-on.
First responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene, while occupants of the other two vehicles were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed the highway for about six hours overnight as reconstruction teams and state patrol officers worked to clear the area.
