The Milwaukee Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating an incident following Sunday’s Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon.
Emergency responders transported a participant from the half marathon course to a local hospital, where the runner was later pronounced dead.
Marathon organizers confirmed the medical transport from the race, citing privacy laws in withholding further personal details.
Officials have not yet released the runner’s identity or an official cause of death as the investigation remains ongoing.
