Victims of domestic abuse and harassment across Wisconsin can now file temporary restraining order petitions online.
Launched statewide by the Wisconsin Court System to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the user-friendly portal allows individuals to complete and submit emergency paperwork from a smartphone or computer.
Chief Justice Jill Karofsky says the system removes major hurdles by eliminating mandatory in-person courthouse visits during urgent situations.
The launch comes after a successful trial run across eight counties earlier this summer.
