The Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to come together and help plan the future of youth sports in the Cool City.
The Youth Sports Summit will be held Wednesday, November 4th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Behringer Room at the Community House.
Parents, coaches, student-athletes, and anyone interested in youth sports are encouraged to attend.
The summit comes as youth sports participation has been declining across the country, especially among girls and middle school students.
The goal of the event is to find ways to increase participation and make sports a positive experience for kids of all ages.
People attending will discuss current youth sports trends, what is already working in Two Rivers, and what could be improved.
Ideas from the summit will be used to begin a Community Youth Sports Strategic Plan.
The plan will focus on reducing barriers, creating more opportunities for girls and underserved youth, building a supportive sports culture, and developing leadership through athletics.
The event will be interactive, giving everyone a chance to share their ideas and experiences.
Organizers hope the summit will help create a shared vision for youth sports that puts kids first. Registration is free, and a meal and refreshments will be provided.
Participants are asked to RSVP by October 28th by calling (920) 793-5592.
