The man charged in the 1995 killing of James Ruland has entered his plea.
83-year-old Jerome Baier was in court yesterday (October 1st) as he faces a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and pleaded not guilty.
Ruland and Baier were roommates at the time of his death, and while his body has never been found, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has declared Ruland dead due to no evidence of any activity from him since.
Charges were filed after additional evidence was discovered, including cashed checks made out to Ruland, and Baier admitting to being untruthful to investigators.
Baier has been bound over for trial, and he is next due in court for a status conference on November 2nd.
