After months of hard work, a downtown Manitowoc bar is ready to unveil its recently completed expansion project.
Derek Felber, the owner of Salute to Everyone on North 8th Street, purchased the former Jade Palace restaurant in December of last year, and after working out a plan, began expanding his bar towards the property to the south.
He tells SeehaferNews.com that the project includes, “Two huge bathrooms and just another little sitting area and another stage for the band.”
As for the former Jade Palace, Felber says he plans on trying to repurpose as much of it as he can.
“Being built in 1863, it’s a shame that it has to come down, but it’s just too far gone,” he explained. “I’m hoping to get it down this year so the ground can settle and then in spring, get my fence up and keep moving forward.”
The project will be officially unveiled on Saturday (October 3rd), as Mayor Justin Nickels will be on hand at 3:30 p.m. for an official ribbon-cutting.
He encouraged everyone to “have some free beer, and then we’ll take the tarps down that have been up for the last three and a half months and expose the all-new bathrooms and area.”
We tried to have Derek give us a sneak peek, but he smiled and said, “Nope. You have to come down.”
