The Milwaukee Police Department is standing by its current protocols despite settling a high-profile federal lawsuit involving repeated fake emergency calls.
The city approved a $575,000 settlement for Patrick Tomlinson and his wife, Niki Robinson, after officers executed over 50 armed responses at their home due to an online harassment campaign.
During a Common Council committee hearing, city leaders questioned police brass over news reports detailing how officers repeatedly searched the couple’s home with weapons drawn.
Department leadership maintains that officers must respond to all active threat reports as real emergencies, while local lawmakers demand reforms to address future swatting incidents safely.
