A Manitowoc-based bank is giving residents a chance to get rid of unwanted documents.
Bank First is hosting a free paper shred event at their Custer Street location in Manitowoc tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
You can shred old tax returns, medical records, and other personal documents.
The shred event provides residents with a safe, secure way to dispose of sensitive documents while also giving back.
While it’s free to the public, anyone interested is asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for each bag of documents they bring to shred.
In 2024, Bank First helped shred 87,600 pounds of paper at 18 events.
That number went up in 2025, with 91,975 pounds of paper shredded across 20 locations.
To make room for community residents, businesses are asked not to participate. Confidential Records provides the mobile shredding units to securely destroy all personal and confidential documents.
More details on the free shred event can be found at bankfirst.com.
