Two Rivers’ Parks and Recreation Department received a rural community grant.
The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable awarded Rural Outdoor Recreation and Health Grants to 10 different states.
In the Cool City, they are getting $7,500 to launch a free outdoor wellness paddling program, beginning with pool-based introductory kayaking sessions in the winter.
Guided paddles will then take place on the Twin Rivers, Lake Michigan, and Point Beach State Forest the following spring.
Two Rivers’ project was chosen from more than 100 applications representing nearly $1.5 million in need.
