A Sturgeon Bay woman has died after she was hit by a van.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on State Highway 57 near County Road P in the Town of Sevastopol.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2025 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling northbound on State Highway 57 near County Road P when the driver hit 83-year-old Erika May.
May was crossing the highway walking eastbound toward a parking lot before she was taken to the Door County Medical Center and was later pronounced deceased.
The 72-year-old driver of the van and her three passengers were uninjured.
State Highway 57 between County Highway P and the split of Highway 42/57 was closed for several hours while investigators worked the crash scene.
It remains under investigation, with no further information being released at this time.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wisconsin State Patrol, Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Sevastopol Emergency Medical Response, and Door County Emergency Services.
