Applications are now being accepted for an annual endowment focused on outdoor conservation.
Every year, the Manitowoc Unit of Manitowoc County Fish & Game, with help from Leede Research, contributes money to local organizations or individuals to help fund projects aimed at supporting the Manitowoc environment and wildlife.
The program is called the FORWARD Endowment, which stands for Friend Of Resources, Wildlife, And Recreational Development, and it is supported by a combination of funding from area sporting clubs and private donations.
Since its foundation, the endowment has issued over $200,000 in grants, with $28,000 of that going out last year alone.
Projects, which can be physical or in relation to education programs, must have public benefit and tie to hunting, fishing, and conservation in Manitowoc County.
Applications must be submitted by December 31st, 2026, at MantyFG.org.
