The UW Health Transplant Center is celebrating 60 years of life-saving medical care.
Hundreds gathered at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison yesterday to reflect on six decades of innovation, which began with the center’s first organ transplant back in 1966.
Since then, doctors have performed more than 21-thousand organ transplants, making it one of the nation’s longest-running and most active centers.
Leadership at UW Health emphasized the milestone is about more than medical achievements, highlighting the second chances at life given to thousands of families.
