Data centers will be a topic of discussion in the City of Sheboygan this week.
The third installment of the City’s data center educational speaker series will be held on Wednesday (September 23rd) at Uptown Social from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This week’s featured speaker will be Bridget Williams, Policy Coordinator for Energy Systems at the Great Plains Institute.
Her discussion will focus on “local energy governance and data center impacts.”
Regarding this session and the speaker series as a whole, the City explained, “These facilities work closely with local utilities to strengthen the grid, support renewable energy projects, and improve overall reliability. By partnering with local energy leaders, data centers help ensure our community stays resilient, efficient, and ready for tomorrow’s technology.”
This comes as the City has received massive backlash for even holding this series, as the general consensus from the public continues to be adamantly anti-data center.
However, the City’s messaging on the matter suggests that they do not share the same opinion.
Despite this, Sheboygan has said on numerous occasions that no data center project is currently being proposed.
