A Manitowoc Police Captain was in Quantico, Virginia, late last week, where he was honored by the FBI.
Captain Cooper Schmidt was participating in the 10-week-long FBI National Academy, a program he has successfully completed.
The FBI National Academy (NA) is a premier leadership development program designed to provide senior law enforcement leaders with transformative developmental opportunities that build partnerships and promote excellence in policing worldwide.
In collaboration with the University of Virginia, this 10-week residential program offers accredited, university-level instruction to law enforcement leaders from across the United States and around the world. Students engage in rigorous academic coursework, comprehensive wellness training, and extensive networking designed to strengthen leadership and build lasting professional connections.
Members of Captain Schmidt’s family and the Manitowoc Police Department made the trip to see him receive his diploma from FBI Director Kash Patel alongside honorary Class 299 classmate, Shaquille O’Neal.
The Department praised Captain Schmidt for his “hard work, dedication, and commitment to professional development”, adding, “Your achievement is something you, your family, and our department can be very proud of.”
