The Whitelaw Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating a major milestone.
Today (September 19th) marks the department’s 100th anniversary after it began as a fire brigade back in 1926.
The volunteers were called to serve the community, as well as the nearby tuberculosis sanitarium and farms.
Today, the Whitelaw Fire Department is a modern, technologically equipped workforce able to handle any emergency.
Whitelaw Volunteer firefighters will hold a brat fry at Whitelaw Community Park today, with entertainment from the Valders High School Jazz Band beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The Manitowoc County Historical Society will display some history of the Village of Whitelaw and Fire Department while attendees get live fire extinguisher training.
Kids can earn prizes for answering questions at the Whitelaw Fire Department’s Children’s safety booth.
Past and present volunteer firefighters will be recognized around 4:00 p.m.
The bray fry also includes burgers and their famous Ribeye steak sandwiches with cold refreshments.
