The Wisconsin Supreme Court is denying an attempt to temporarily suspend the law license of former circuit court judge Hannah Dugan.
Dugan resigned from the bench after a federal jury convicted her of felony obstruction for helping an undocumented man evade immigration agents in her courthouse.
State regulators pushed for an immediate suspension, but justices ruled yesterday the action was not warranted under the circumstances.
The decision drew sharp pushback from dissenting justices, who argued the court is breaking from past precedent.
