Some behind-the-scenes work is being done to further expand a soccer complex in Sheboygan.
The City’s Public Works Committee met earlier this week with one item on their agenda being a land lease agreement with Lakeshore United (LUFC) for the Butzen Soccer Complex at 3936 South Business Drive.
Since 2023, LUFC has been on a temporary land lease for the soccer complex, and if fully approved, the two sides would agree to a new 99-year ground lease.
This would pave the way for LUFC to continue a large-scale renovation and expansion of the complex across three phases.
Phase one, which the LUFC is currently in, included the completed construction of multiple 11-on-11 and 9-on-9 fields.
Phase two would include constructing a concessions stand, permanent public restrooms, administrative offices, and additional natural grass and turf fields.
Phase three, tentatively scheduled to start by 2031, would feature a multi-sport indoor athletic facility designed for year-round use, programming, and indoor competitions.
