An insurance claim filed by the City of Two Rivers for storm damage has been resolved.
The city previously submitted a $380,524 claim linked to storm-related damages for the May 17th storms that uprooted trees and damaged power lines with straight-line winds.
Two Rivers staff say they got a final insurance payment of $279,490, recovering about 74% of the total claim.
The issue also shows why the city changing municipal insurance providers mattered.
The move appears to have reduced their property deductible from $50,000 to $5,000, saving the city more than $45,000.
Two Rivers officials say that while the May 17 storm was unfortunate, it showed that some financial decisions over the past year are providing a real benefit for taxpayers and the city.
