An investigation is underway after a Green Bay Police Department official fired his weapon during an incident near downtown.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Doty and South Washington Streets just after 2:15 Saturday morning (September 12th) on a report of a disturbance at a food truck.
As they were investigating, a truck reportedly drove into a crowd of people, forcing an officer to discharge their weapon.
The driver took off, and after a couple of minutes, the officers were able to use a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop in the area of North Monroe Avenue and Pine Street.
The driver was arrested on a charge of suspicion of OWI, while four Green Bay Police Department officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
It is unclear if any civilians were injured by the truck, but it was noted that none were hit by the round fired by the officer.
Body camera footage is being reviewed by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, as the officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave, as per department policy.
