Changes have been proposed for how energy is delivered to residents in Plymouth.
American Transmission Co. (ATC) has proposed the Mullet River Area Reliability Project, which would see the construction of a new substation to the east of the city in the Town of Plymouth on County Road PP.
The project would also call for the removal of two existing structures, the Mullet River and North Mullet River substations located along Highway 67, along with reconfiguring and rerouting existing power lines into the proposed Nature Park Substation.
On the project, ATC noted, “The project is needed to address the replacement of aging infrastructure and to ensure reliable service for the Plymouth, Wisconsin, area.”
ATC has submitted its proposal to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, which serves as the regulatory agency that will either approve or deny the project application.
With a projected approval date in the second quarter of next year, Plymouth officials hope construction on the new substation will begin in the second quarter of 2027.
