Although it’s still September, Visit Manitowoc is already gearing up for the holiday season.
Registration is now open for Manitowoc’s Lakeshore Holiday Parade, which will take place the night before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 25th at 6:00 p.m.
Like in years past, the decorative floats, marching bands, trucks, and walkers will head east at South 14th and Washington Streets and then head north to Park Street.
The city will again implement the Sensory Sensitive Zone from South 14th to 12th Street, with two blocks of no flashing lights, loud music, or sirens for those who might not like it.
Visit Manitowoc is aware that the parade will interfere with the Packers game against the Rams, which is why it’s starting a half hour early.
Several downtown establishments will be showing the game, which starts at 7:00. As in years past, WOMT 100 will also be on hand to broadcast the parade live on 1240 am and 98.9 FM. WOMT will also be the Honorary Parade Marshal as the station celebrates 100 years of live, local radio.
The Santa Reception will again be held at the Rahr-West Art Museum from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., following the parade.
Children can meet Santa Claus, enjoy sweet treats, and explore the Rahr-West exhibit, Christmas in the Mansion.
Last year’s Lakeshore Holiday Parade was canceled twice due to the weather.
